As we step closer to the commemoration of Anzac day, whilst watching the various media offerings I awoke with a sense of loss and the Ho'opnopono running through my head. If you have never heard of it the Ho'opnopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness, for without the forgiveness there can be no reconciliation.

The sense of loss of the many who died fighting for a cause, on all sides, whether the cause seemed just or not the machines of war were in process and the footsteps of death marched on all sides and continents. My mind was overwhelmed with apology for those that fought with their ideals and with their courage and with their lives and, huge sense of repeating the Ho'opnopono seemed the right thing to do.

I want to apologize for the fact that we are still fighting.

I want to apologize for the fact that there are still victims and displacements through war.

I want to apologize for us having built better and bigger killing machines and weapons of immense destruction and death.

I want to apologize that you fighting has not left us in peace or reconciliation or understanding.

I wanted to apologize for the loss of your lives having not served as a global lesson for us all and, not to cause the same suffering to each other.

I wanted to apologize that we commemorate your deeds yet we do not learn from those deeds.

I wanted to apologize for the children that are still being taught to hate and go to war on issues that should have been reconciled and healed many years before.

I wanted to apologize for the separation and injustice that we still allow through leaders who are happy to send many to death for causes that could be resolved in more peaceful ways.

I want to apologize for all the lessons still unlearnt.

In being reminded of what the individuals and masses suffered in the past, I want to apologise for those still suffering in the present.

This is the Ho'opnopono and I speak it daily to reconcile and forgive and bring peace.
